Shiva and Yoga
Salutations to Lord Shiva, the World Teacher
who bestowed on mankind the Science of Yoga as a path to enlightenment.

OM, we worship and adore you, O three-eyed one, O Shiva.
You are sweet gladness, the fragrance of life, who nourishes us, restores our health, and causes us to thrive. As, in due time, the stem of the cucumber weakens, and the gourd is freed from the vine, so free us from attachment and death, and do not withhold immortality.

In Light of World Events
In a time when mankind is terribly afflicted and suffering to the extreme from wars, poverty, starvations and diseases, both natural and man made (such as the swine flu and the weaponised e-coli outbreak) we have but one remedy to our suffering: our spiritual connection. Lord Shiva is the bestower of liberation and praised as the doctor of the world, to alleviate all our pain and suffering, and our diseases both physical and spiritual. I place my trust in Him and in no man's medicine! When on rare occasions dis-ease manifests in my physical being I heal myself through prayer, meditation, the science of Yoga and the power of mantra.
No disease can stand before the power of God, have no fear, free your minds!
May you all be blessed with health, prosperity and spiritual awakening.

Translation:
In the morning I remember Suresa (the Lord of all deities), who dispels all fear, rides a bull and is the husband of Ambika; who holds a Shula (weapon) in His hand, shows fearlessness through his posture and is the only medicine of the diseases of the world (the pain of the wheel of birth and death).
In the morning I bow to Girisa who is the better half of Girija (Parvati, the mountain born); who is the cause of creation, protection, destruction of the world; who is the oldest deity and the Lord of the world; who conquers all hearts, and is the charming and sole medicine of the diseases of the world.
In the morning I adore Shiva, who is the endless one, the first being and the only one; who can be known through Vedanta and is the greatest being; whose being cannot be disintegrated by the variety of names and forms affiliated to Him nor correspond to the six stages of life (from birth to death); who is the only medicine for the diseases of the world.
Whoever reads these three verses every day remembering Shiva in the morning
gets rid of the pain of rebirth and is protected by Sambhu (Lord Shiva, the Beneficient One).
